SIGGRAPH 2002
by Nicholas Polys
CTO and Media Amoeba

Well my friends and colleagues, the last year has certainly been no exception to the rule of Novelty as evolution and invention continue to wrangle chaos... and we are all a little wiser for the wear.

Most of our time the last year has been working on the X3D specification and related applications. In addition, since we believe so strongly in open standards, we have dedicated a large amount of energy towards the efforts of The Web3D Consortium where we have come a long way through lean times. I think you will agree after the showing at SIGGRAPH 2002 that the fun is just starting... Thanks are due to its deeply dedicated members.

SIGGRAPH 2002 will include X3D Courseware, X3D spec release, Press Releases on the new CAD Working Group and X3D, Xj3D presentation, a Web3D Showcase BOF, new Software Development Kits (SDK), and an exhihbition booth! Come and see us!

I hope you will enjoy the newest installment of the VirtuPortal which includes some great examples of Web3D content including X3D and X3D/CML worlds!

Also, don't forget to mark your calendars for the Web3D 2003 Symposium!

with best regards,

_n_polys
